To Battle Opioid Addiction, the Federal Health Department Opens Medication Treatment to More Patients

WASHINGTON POST (07/06) – The Obama administration is taking additional steps to fight prescription opioid and heroin abuse nationwide, even as it pushes lawmakers to approve $1.1 billion in new funding before their summer recess. The Department of Health and Human Services announced Wednesday that it is raising the limit on how much of an opioid addiction medication, buprenorphine, qualified health-care providers can prescribe.
